About Lloyds Online Doctor

Lloyds Online Doctor launched in Ireland in July 2013 and now has over 40,000 patients. We also have over 1 million patients in the UK. We have a simple goal: to make Irish healthcare more accessible and more affordable. Our doctors assess patients online, so you don’t need to book an appointment or worry about discussing a sensitive problem with a doctor face to face. If you’re suitable for treatment, we will send your prescription directly to your door or you can collect it at a participating LloydsPharmacy.

Of course, there are some conditions that can’t be managed online. But we provide consultations and treatments for a carefully selected set of conditions and regularly review our services to make sure we are working within all the latest clinical guidelines.

How does the service work?

In many ways, our service is just like a normal doctor’s practice; patients come to our clinic for help on a range of conditions. But what makes Lloyds Online Doctor different is that we use the internet to make life easier for patients aged 18 and over by offering them online consultations.

There are three simple steps:

  • Select a treatment and complete the online consultation which is in the form of a questionnaire
  • One of our doctors will assess your answers and if suitable provide a prescription for in-pharmacy collection or via post. Collect your prescription at a participating LloydsPharmacy and pay for the medication, or take your hand-signed postal prescription to a pharmacy of your choice to purchase medication.
  • Our paper prescriptions can be taken to any pharmacy in the Republic of Ireland to collect and pay for the medication

If our doctors believe you are not suitable for treatment they will provide a full refund. If they feel they need more information they will send you a message through your secure patient record which is set up when you register.

When you can use our services and when to expect a response

You can register as a patient, access your patient record, place orders and make online payments 24 hours a day. Our team is available from 8am - 6pm Mondays to Fridays and from 9am - 4pm on weekends and bank holidays. Please note that for some services these hours may vary - in such cases, we state the hours that we are able to respond in the specific service key information.

Charges and methods of payment

Lloyds Online Doctor charges €25 for an online consultation. STI test kits cost €50 (for the Standard Kit) and €70 (for the Enhanced Kit). If you are suitable for treatment, the prescription and postage is included in the price. There are no hidden charges. We use Sagepay as our secure payment provider and transactions will appear as “Lloyds Online” on your bank statement.


Lloyds Online Doctor has a written complaints policy and procedure. We aim to acknowledge all formal written complaints within two working days of receiving them and will do our best to respond within five working days. To lodge a formal complaint, you must write a letter to Complaints Team, Expert Health Limited, Mezzanine Floor, 50-54 Wigmore Steet, London, W1U 2AU, United Kingdom.

Confidentiality and data protection

We have a legal obligation to protect your personal information. Except where we are legally bound to do so, we cannot share your personal information with a third party not involved in delivering our service without your explicit consent.  The sexually transmitted infections that our test kits screen for are termed ‘notifiable diseases’. For Irish patients with positive results, we are legally bound to inform Medical Officer of Health for the County in which the patient lives of the full details including person-identifiable and sensitive information.  To do this we complete an official notification form and send this via a fully traceable, signed-for delivery method.  Our full privacy policy is also available here.
